A SUSPECT has been arrested in Mexico for the murder of a couple and their three-year-old son nearly 30 years later. Arturo Ortega Garcia, 69, was detained on capital murder charges in connection with the Santoni family slaying in August 1994.

Despite extensive inquiries, investigators did not find any workable leads and the case went cold. But thanks to technological advancements, police were able to identify Ortega Garcia as a suspect in 2015. The murderer then walked into her son Dante's room and repeatedly knifed the toddler as he slept. Clothing and other items belonging to the family were bundled into their 1994 Dodge Colt that was in the garage.
