Warner Bros. announced in April that they were officially in development with director Denis Villeneuve for a third Dune movie, though it seems that will be his last in the franchise. The 56-year-old director will return to write and direct the third film in the franchise, reportedly based on Dune author Frank Herbert's novel Dune: Messiah. He was at the helm of 2021's Dune: Part One, which took in $407M worldwide, even while it was streaming simultaneously on Max, and 2024's Dune: Part Two, which earned $711.
