Paul Merson has opened about his addiction in a new interview ahead of his Strictly Come Dancing debut. The former footballer, 56, revealed that when he was in the grip of his addiction, the idea of competing in Strictly didn't even seem like a possibility but now he hopes he can inspire others. The former Arsenal forward told the The Daily Mirror that at the height of his addiction he could only focus on drinking, drugs and gambling.
