The 70-year-old singer, whose real name is Stuart Leslie Goddard, soared to popularity as the lead vocalist for new wave group Adam and the Ants before pursuing a solo career. From 1980 to 1983, he had three UK number ones as part of the band, which formed in 1977, with hits including Stand and Deliver and Prince Charming.
