Alfa Anderson, who was known as being one of the lead vocalists of Chic, has died at the age of 78 years old on Tuesday. The singer joined the iconic disco band - founded by guitarist Nile Rodgers and bassist Bernard Edwards - in 1977 after being encouraged to audition by Luther Vandross. Beginning as a backup singer, she soon became a main vocalist the following year after Norma Jean Wright left the group.
