The television and Broadway star Linda Lavin's cause of death has been confirmed weeks after her unexpected death at 87 on December 29. According to her death certificate, obtained by TMZ, Lavin died of cardiopulmonary arrest, a condition in which the heart stops pumping needed blood, depriving the lungs and brain of necessary oxygen. However, lung cancer was listed as the underlying cause of Lavin's death. It was reported at the time of her death that the condition had only recently been detected prior to her death.
